Quote of the Day

Joseph Conrad (1857-1924)

==Only in men's imagination does every truth find an effective and undeniable existence. Imagination, not invention, is the supreme master of art as of life==

Hmms, it gets you thinking doesn't it? What one thinks effects the entire outcome per say an scenario. The idealistic approach, a true rebel against what is known as the common method? I was on the train home, and i realised how much people follow the same routine, day in day out. Like this guy, i've been seeing him on the train everyday at the exact same time, well that's if i catch that exact same train everyday after work. I've come to realise that people take for granted what can be done even with the most little time on their hands. Even the slightest of seconds can make you a a good boyfriend/girlfriend, a loving husband/wife, an understanding and approachable friend and so on. What i'm trying to say is that we should try to keep every possible moment enjoyably and fun especially in the company of others.

So why not just for the day or a week if your up to standard, be super friendly to everyone! Today for example after lunch i was at carrefour, wanted to buy little mini pies for all my colleagues in my department, however realised adeline wasn't here today too, so i'll do it some other time when every'1 here. It's gonna be a super fun weekend, oh well too bad i can't join my frens after work for basketball, need work till 9pm. have fun dudes =>

oh and thanks ppl for askin how i am, shout outs to ryan, samantha, desire, justina. yea yea i'm alive and kicking, money was the medicine =)

wth i jus really can't slp, keep vomiting, zz and it's 733am and i need get ready for work. pray for me. LOL
Well work was alright, just very busy, had like a tonne of crap to finish, not to mention they want me work 9-9 tmr. Well when there's bling bling $$$, you can never complain can you?

LOL i just realised that me and my group of friends can be called the " crippled gang!" haha since we all were injured, and had bandages/cast/sling around our limbs/feet (me) =__=. Cool, funny how we went to T1 and looked like a bunch of freaks! haha. good thing i dun wear one anymore, im healed baby!

Anyways there's so much i wanna say, there's so much i wanna express about things, people, person and family. but i think i'll just hold it. Since i started work, i really miss hanging out with all my frens, worse with army like <2 months away, time is really starting to be something i treasure. So the remainder of this week from today will be doing fun things, such as now, it's 12am, and my fren hasn't showed yet, oh yea im not hungry, so i watch u eat supper LOL. This now was playin with my cat and chatting to sis, good to spend time with her, hardly do nowadays. It's all work and MORE play! who says you can't have fun while working! lol, although ppl i work with can say that i do get stressed up, but when im alone at night shift, is when i shift into gears, burn the oil and get the crazy motor running.

TODAY'S RECEIPE : NORTH-INDIAN CUSINE

Well you all know me, i like to blend things, mix and match, shake and stir, JUST TO SEE what comes out of it. Here i mixed my usual vegetables such as carrots, corriander, onions, peas etc, used a lil curry powder and food colouring for the rice. I instantly made a simple boring dish radiant with bright colours. Presentation is very important at equally the taste, neither one of them in my opinion can be lacking in order to achieve the true ambience of flavour. Added a few fried potatoes for bulk, this should pretty much complete and indian dish. Did not have any paperdums (indian crackers) to complement it however. Anyways again this is another vegetable dish, healthy and forfilling. Will do more meaty ones soon for u meat lovers out there.

Peace and Love

Argh, well weekend shd be fun, going back to school, then at night dunno doing wat. sunday is a party! so it's gonna be sick! can't wait to go to gym, it's like damn hard esp working PM shifts. Gosh. Apparently im not supposed to exercise too much till i'm fully recovered, but tempted to go jogging balls.

Oh yea so after pumped into my fren, i pumped into Mark Richmond, he's some local celeb who's now a radio DJ on class 95 i think. Anyways a lot of ppl say we look alike, then i stood next to him didn't really see the resemblance. We were both walking towards this spot, there happened to be this big glass panel, and judging by the reflection i dun really see anything same, except i once had the same hair style as him with a pony tail. LOL, i miss my long hair argh!!! he was walking to his car and me to my train! haahhaha! my transport better! more expensive and can fit more ppl =) eat that Mark!

The day went bad, nothing could be spared.
i sat through the day, with work and dispair.
I didn't know what to do, nor how to cope,
cause tissue wasn't there to help me move.

Those little message still so good to read, keeps me going with endless speed.
I'm sick like mad, i need a rest, come home to chat still was the best.

I long time never write poems, hope you like it hee.
As Requested, Today's Receipe

Well mainly i wanted to try a little fusion. In short it means combine things together. Decided to combine japanese and western roast together. Wanted to try to achieve some creativity yet with the various uses of ingredients, show some cullinary pratices.

1. Sticky short grain rice, add jap pinkle on top for colour with bits of seaweed.
2. Chicken Terriyaki Meat Balls, you see this all over singapore, same receipe!
3. Couliflower Mini Pie, inside the vege is meat, made it into a pie and baked it to harden so won't fall apart
4. Roasted Potatoes, mainly half boil potatoes, then light fry to get golden brown colour, sprinkle a little pepper and salt for tasting.
5. Bread, obviously this meal is really heavy on carbo, so it's good if u are having it on a day where u do a lot of sporty activities. Lightly burnt the bread on open fire, to get a char grilled (burnt taste). Eat it with the pie then the taste will change, as the vege is a bit sweet and meat savoury.

Enjoy!

So alright, i have news that i start army in a month, i think my fren doesn't give a shit abt me, i have a stupid cut on my leg, so what else can be worse?

Oh yea, work tmr, (i.e. bloody sunday) is really gonna suck, add on top im sick like hell, and i can't stop coughing and sneezing. My face looks like a red tomato, and my nose looks like a wat is the word? light bulb? awwwww im so dreading this baby. Please take me outside to be shot!

Oh well today was a more resting day, self-recovery, pretty much had a chat with frens, played a few games online, and supposedly supposed to go out to bedok reservoir to cheer for a fren's fren's regetta competition. End up some ppl not coming or meeting for lunch/dinner. So ppl came over to my place, played blackjack with edwin, and i lost! argh no mood play la, " hate u dude! win me until jialat! wait i recover show u my winning hand, so called, 'stoke of death' . "

Ok now im coughing like mad, i look and feel like some drunk with now pumped up with drugs. That's what my face look like now, if u think this person looks bad, shd see my face! haha

TODAY"S SPECIALITY
Tempanyaki Style Ala-carte

Pretty much a simple dish, bits of chicken, choice of vegetables and choice of oil. Mainly spinkle a bit of garlic at start of cooking to give the chicken some flavour and a pinch of salt to taste. Sizzle here and there and it's pretty much done. Nicely stack it on top of each other like pyramid style (stack's method) for garnish and it's done. Quick and Easy 10 min prep and 2 min cook time.

i miss my dream!

A LITTLE ROUGH SUMMARY

Well cooking is sometin i always wanted to do since i was barely able to walk. Nowadays frens/family/customers still tell me that i shdn't had done engineering that cooking was my calling. Everyday i still wonder why am i holding a Diploma in Micro-Electronics and not holding a spoon instead. But anyways over the last few months before i started working again, this was what i was up to at home.

FROM TODAY ONWARDS EVERY BLOG ENTRY, WELL EVERY MAIN ONE WHERE I PUT IN MORE THEN 10 MINS, WILL HAVE A DISH OF MY CREATION. AT TIMES THERE WILL BE RECEIPES OR JUST PICTURES ON TOP OF BLOG ENTRY.

DAY 1 : "EGGY ON TOASTY"

well preety much a simple meal. All u need is a piece of toast and toppings you want on top. The idea was to have a pouched egg sitting on the bread WITHOUT It BREAKING! Came up with a simple thick low fat cheese sauce then covers over the bread and egg to set it. Slight garnish with freshly chopped tomatoes and a splash of chinese parsley and you have yourself a filling breakfast.

Thanks to many ppl for support and comments on my private msn. Will update more regularly.

Today's Blog Entry

Well today i was 1 min late, i've been taking too long to get dressed. Time to speed up things haha. But anyways was sick today, my throat is so sore, when i cough out sometimes there's blood. Like some kinda dry cough due to the weather. Currently i still have difficulty swollowing so man it's gonna suck at work for next few days. And as usual i do a crappy job at looking after myself, i always need someone to take care of me =__=

Ok im off to bed, jus finished gym hrs ago, and i still have work tomorrow followed by basketball in the evening and maybe a gathering with frens at St James Powerhouse, problem is i dun drink. So maybe water will be fine for me =) provided i attend =X
It's gonna be fun! I hope you can join us

Peace and Joy

great weekend!

well lets see, i ended work on fri evening, decided to make the use of the "friday." Not to mention friday being good friday and all. Went over to WL's house around midnight, played a couple of games and had a nice chat etc. Been awhile since we done that kinda stuff dude. lol

Come sat morning, wait um i mean afternoon? woke up who knows wat time. chilled at home, spent time with the family, as u all know, im an old fashion family guy =) anyhow we had a nice dinner and chilled out watching tv together.

Come sunday, didn't go to church, had a damn neck injury, (too much gym training?!?! =_=")
Stayed home again, then headed to the gym during the night. ok la so far this week quite boring but WAIT! MONDAY IM OFF!!!

woke up around 10am during monday, today every1's coming down to bugis to celebrate yuhui's bday. Great! finally im out of the hse, only prob is that it's in town. besides work, this month i went to bugis on 7 different occassions =_=" talk abt town-sickness. Anyhow hey we all met up, me and berty got the cake, and we all made our way to Mind's Cafe. It's like this cafe where u can play board games and eat/drink too. Quite cool. In bugis alone there are two, so some of us went to the wrong one by mistake LOL. So much for the surprise cake since yuhui saw it when i was walking in +_+

anyways edwin fell of his bike! ended up in hospital! so sadly, he couldn't join us as he was waiting in the hospital for the cast application of watever u call it. lol how did u manage that man! tell me ur secret. heng it's not so serious, but now our group got 2 ppl wearing a cast. If we all stand together we look like a disabled bunch of frens!~ After the bored games and the lunch, we went to bugis to hang. Till Ms Su Zhen had to go to Martial Arts training, so we went to Clark Quay.

Hmms i remember the days where i had to travel to CLark Quay for work, now i can finally go there without thinking of work. We got Front Row seats! to Timber. It's live a live band (guitarist/gigs) and we had a couple of drinks. OMG i ordered 1 beer and i couldnt even finish it LOL, that's a good thing though, that im not a drinker, well wait, not a drinker anymore! =)
Prefect night, and as usual yuhui finished my beer for me without much effort. Then the most painful day of the night, the cab ride home! so EX!!!!! $$$$$ Argh!

Ok la, i need finish my work back in the office,,,will upload a shitload of pics once ive got my phone and stuff fixed.

Overall, a fun and relaxing weekend =)

Sophie Tucker, truly an amazing example to all dogs that goes unnoticed

SYDNEY (AFP) - - A pet dog that fell overboard in rough seas off Australia has been reunited with its owners after surviving alone on an island for four months, reports said.

Sophie Tucker, apparently named after a late US entertainer, fell overboard as Jan Griffith and her family sailed through choppy waters off the northeast Queensland coast in November.
The dog was believed to have drowned and Griffith said the family was devastated.
But out of sight of the family, Sophie Tucker was swimming doggedly and finally made it to St Bees Island, five nautical miles away, and began the sort of life popularised by the TV reality show "Survivor."
She was returned to her family last week when Griffith contacted rangers who had captured a dog that had been living off feral goats on the largely uninhabited island, in the faint hope it might be their long-lost pet.
When the Griffiths met the rangers' boat bringing the dog to the mainland they found that it was indeed Sophie Tucker on board.
"We called the dog and she started whimpering and banging the cage and they let her out and she just about flattened us," Griffith told the national AAP news agency.
"She wriggled around like a mad thing."
Griffith said that when the dog was first spotted on the island she had been in poor condition.
"And then all of a sudden she started to look good and it was when the rangers had found baby goat carcasses so she'd started eating baby goats," she said.
Sophie Tucker, a member of the Australian cattle dog breed, had been quick to readjust to the comforts of home, complete with airconditioning, Griffiths said.
"She surprised us all. She was a house dog and look what she's done, she's swum over five nautical miles, she's managed to live off the land all on her own," Griffiths said.
"We wish she could talk, we truly do."

Is it time to move on?

Recently a lot of people have been telling me to start dating again. That it's time to move on, and 18 months of thinking is already more then enough.

My answer is simple, it's not fair on any1 if i still have feelings for her, so it's better that i just get my head screwed into the right direction and focus on my tasks at hand, work/army/financial stability/career. Right now i go out as frens and my only intention shall remain as frens for this special someone, and she knows that. Life's perfect and healthy this way.

Thanks guys for the support really, but i rather wait at lease another year or two, better still after i get my degree.

i love my family and friends
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Weird

im now stuck in the office well with not much to do, hmms wat can i say i just enjoy my free time where after im done i can sit down and reflect/play emo?

Anyways yesterday i was gonna head down to the gym with my colleague, but be4 that we had to have an early dinner so that we won't starve while training. Went to PS since it was closer and faster, ended up with big mac and fries with no salt (special order). Unfortunately had no choice really since everywhr is always crowded! and EXPENSIVE!!! Anyways the point is i saw my fren with her bf looking for a table. I waved she ignored, i approached and offered them our table since we were done she gave me the " who are you look?!?" anyways This kinda shit gets me effing pissed off at times. She was like a good fren with some of us, but i didn't believe my frens at first when they said she's now all weird and different with friends.

It's like some ppl when they get a bf/gf they change, i mean that's perfectly normal but what i dun get is they totally ignore their friends. If there's one thing i learnt in my past, is nvr abandone your frens, CAUSE THEIR THE PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER LEAVE YOUR SIDE!
oh well wat a bitch! she's totally lost all our friendships now since her true colours have were revealed.

spent the remainder of the night at the gym/track.

Fren i kw ur gonna read this since ur so free! (yes im talking to you, dun act blur "Coolgal"). If there's one thing ur best fren taught me which i still hold dear, is never think/worry too much especially about where your going. Everyone has their right path and always get there eventually. The most important thing is to focus on what you do now, make sure you do it well and hard so that you get wherever your meant to go faster. 100% effort = 100% speed

A small tribute to a cherished relative <3

Well i haven't seen my aunt in so many many years caused she lives all the way over in England. I can't remember much but i know i miss her, and much more now that she's gone. Here's a little mini-biography that popped out in some magazine.
Mary Thomas: former internee of the Japanese and author
Thomas was interned first at Katong and then in Changi until May 1944
Mary Thomas was one of the longest-lived survivors of internment by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore. She wrote a book about her experiences, In the Shadow of the Rising Sun, a factual and unbiased account, which was published in 1983.
Most of her internment was spent in Changi jail, which was intended to hold 1,200 prisoners. Early in March 1942 it held more than 3,000 men, women and children. By 1944 their numbers exceeded 4,000 and the regime had become harsher because the Kempatai, the Japanese military police, had taken over.
Mary Thomas was born in 1906, the eldest of six children; the other five were all boys. Her father was the rector of Church Westcote in Gloucestershire. As they grew up, all but one of the six children were sent to boarding schools and Mary subsequently took a degree in history at St Anne’s College, Oxford.
As a child she had become aware of how hard life could be for farm workers. Failure to work unpaid overtime during the harvest could mean the loss of a tied cottage. The bread oven at the rectory was kept hot after the household baking so that others could make use of it. It is hardly surprising that Thomas’s politics were of the Left.
After coming down from Oxford she spent two years on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where she did some teaching. She then returned home via the Pacific, spending time in Hong Kong, Ceylon and Bengal, where there had been family connections on her mother’s side.
Her great-grandfather was General Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence, who was killed defending Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny. This period in the Far East had an important influence on her later life.
At the outbreak of the Second World War Thomas, aged 32, accompanied her brother Francis to Singapore, where he was an assistant master at St Andrew’s School. As the Japanese invaders drew closer, teaching duties were superseded by voluntary work that led to her becoming assistant superintendent at a first-aid post in the school. As events unfolded, some managed to leave the island by ship (many were lost at sea because of enemy action). Those who stayed and who were able to help with nursing were transferred to Singapore General Hospital where civilian and military wounded were being treated. Circumstances for everybody rapidly became worse when MacRitchie Reservoir was captured and the water supply was cut.
Then on February 15, 1942, came the news of surrender. It was followed by a period of uncertainty that came to an end for Thomas in March when she was interned, at first in Katong and then in Changi until May 1944, when she was transferred to another camp at Sime Road. Prisoners were required to bow low from the hips when confronted by a Japanese. For a woman, failure to do so meant a slap in the face.
In common with prisoners of war and internees elsewhere, there was considerable ingenuity in making the best of things. Notwithstanding that Changi was comparatively new, the concrete used in its construction was damp and dusty. A typical cell for two women measured 7ft x 6½ft with a concrete slab in the middle to act as a bed. Food was scant. A camp magazine POW-WOW was circulated. On one occasion it got Thomas into trouble. She had written a poem, Changi Lullaby, which included a reference to “the clash of a chain”. The Japanese authorities thought this was a reference to fetters. In fact, the chains were lavatory chains, which were pulled more or less continuously through the night as a result of the diuretic effects of the prison diet. Thomas read the poem in a deadpan voice to the Japanese commandant. She escaped with a telling-off to confine her remarks to topics not connected with internment.
No fewer than 20 babies were born in Changi. Someone started a Froebel class for the younger children and others taught the older ones. Inevitably there were disputes between women, and even fights, but many subsequently said that they received more acts of kindness while interned than they ever did subsequently.
Not all the guards were harsh, but the usual outcome for any who were found performing acts of kindness was a firing squad. The turning point came on October 10, 1943, “the double tenth” as it came to be known, when the Kempetai took over Changi. Their training was similar to that practised by the Gestapo.
After her release Thomas made her way back to England and became a teacher once more. Her youngest brother, Christopher, was missing, presumed killed in action in Burma, and Francis, having been a prisoner of war in Changi, Thailand and Japan, resumed his teaching duties in Singapore before becoming Minister of Works and Communications, 1955-58.
Thomas became closely connected with the Society of the Sacred Cross, a contemplative Anglican order based at Tymawr Convent near Monmouth. At the time of her death she was a long-standing associate of the community.
For many years she lived in Monmouthshire and became a supporter of Plaid Cymru. In her nineties she wrote a letter to the Monmouthshire Beacon in a controversy over an initiative to associate Monmouth with a Japanese town, Ishikawa Machi. Thomas’s letter described briefly her own treatment at the hands of the Japanese and suggested that it was now time to move on. The dispute came to an abrupt end. As her eyesight failed she moved into residential care. She never married.
Mary Thomas, former internee of the Japanese, 1942-45, was born on December 13, 1906. She died on February 9, 2009, aged 102
